Palm-lined stone colonnade
Cyprus
A driveway colonnade of carved stone columns with lanterns, set among palms.
A run of carved stone columns lining a driveway, each topped with a lantern and set between mature palms. The columns are structural in feel but decorative in function, marking the approach to the house and carrying the lighting.
The column bases sit on concrete pads below ground level so they stay plumb over time, and the capitals were carved to a matching pattern so the run reads as a set. Spacing was worked out on site against the existing palms rather than drawn on a plan.
